One evening of the Kairos weekend, I was awakened with the words “Humble thyself in the sight of the Lord” in my head; and throughout the weekend the words “The wisdom of the world is the foolishness to God” kept crossing my mind. The final morning of the weekend, as I was reading Oswald Chamber’s “My Utmost for His Highest,” the voice within me spoke forcefully, “THE GOSPEL IS TRUE! THE POWER IS IN THE GOSPEL.”
A few hours later, I went for a drive in the country. Since I didn’t know the radio stations in the area, I searched the glove compartment of my husband’s car and found an unmarked copy of a Rich Mullins CD. I had no idea what it was, but put it in so I could listen to something. Just as I drove past a small church, the song “Creed” began to play as I read the words on the church sign, “Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?” (1 Corinthians 1:20)
Immediately I felt as if streams of love and light were raining on me inside the car. I pulled over to the side of the road as the words; “I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God” began to burst from within my soul. I sat at the side of the road for over an hour; crying the words, “I believe it … I believe it!” At last, I was free indeed.
