As beautiful and joyous and full as the spiritual path is, there’s just no getting around the fact that the farther you go, the more narrow the path becomes. It’s definitely a survival of the fittest thing because there’s just one seemingly huge obstacle after another that could easily be one’s undoing. I know that all that matters is guarding my sobriety with vigilance because as long as I take right action, I will be in the flow of God and all will be well.
Sure, dreams come true; and I believe in fairy tales and dreams come true. However, in fairy tales and dreams you don’t see the part about the huge amount of work and character building required to maintain them. As time goes on, the words of the preamble for A.A. and the words of Jesus, Emerson, and other great thinkers ring so true to me. There is no easier, softer way. Life is not supposed to be easy; just lived to the fullest.
What a wonderful, most gracious God! Even though it’s difficult, I love my life and I truly love the person that I am becoming. I am becoming a person desires to love.
