I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. – John 10:10
I have been reading “The Synchronicity Key” by David Wilcock. In it he refers to three different ways of responding to the reality of life’s difficulty. The first way is to respond with love and forgiveness. People who do this are on “the service to others path.” The second way is to respond with cynicism and a “conquer or be conquered” attitude. This is “the path of control.” The third way is to respond with denial and avoidance. People who respond this way do not learn from their mistakes and are in a state of “true helplessness.” They are the helpless ones.
I have been a helpless one. The helpless ones are the people who have turned on themselves. They are the mental patients and the addicts and the criminals. They are lying in the streets of the homeless communities and sitting in the chairs of recovery programs and confined to administrative segregation in the harshest prisons. The helpless ones are the people for whom Jesus sent His Holy Spirit.
Jesus is the help for the helpless ones, but many times the very people who need Him the most are shunned by the good sons who have taken Jesus and His message hostage. Jesus sent His Holy Spirit that we may have life abundantly – in contrast to the pseudo-life of the ego that kills, steals, and destroys all joy. Jesus said that He did not come to save the righteous, but the sinners. But the self-righteous have perverted His Gospel to a choice between Heaven and Hell. The helpless ones are already in hell. Jesus offers the way OUT of hell.
It is time to consider that Jesus offers hope NOW. The Spirit of the Risen Jesus is not a promise for the future once we die and go to “Heaven,” but a present moment Guide to a state of peace within the eternal now. The truth about God is not medieval, but cosmic. It is time to consider the Gospel from a new perspective – that the helpless ones may stand – that the prodigals may return home to peace within themselves. It is time to consider that the Kingdom of Heaven is within and that eternity is NOW.
