In Eastern Mysticism, the goal is to get beyond egoic identity to a realization of the Divine Self – which is impersonal Presence. Jesus offers something much greater – the loss of egoic identity to be replaced with identification with personal Divine Self. To have a personal relationship with God is Heaven. To be one with impersonal God is Enlightenment. Heaven trumps Enlightenment because we get to maintain a sense of separate identity that is not egoic; as opposed to being absorbed back into the implicate order.
All I know is that if I even consider the possibility that Jesus is less that Risen Savior and King, my spiritual experiences loses all joy and I feel separated from God. Therefore, I must conclude that “Enlightenment” is insufficient. Anything less than personal contact with the Risen Lord is hell. Consequently, Jesus IS the ONLY way to Heaven because relationship with Jesus IS Heaven.
